Job Description

The Assistant Aquatics Director (AAD) is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Director in overseeing the organization, implementation, administration, promotion and evaluation of the Aquatics Programs and aquatics facility management, included maintenance of pump/filter system and water quality oversight.

Qualifications

* All candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have one (1) year experience in the aquatics en-

vironment, educational institution, business or program related to children.

* Certified YMCA Lifeguard. Must obtain YMCA Lifeguard certification within 90 day of hire.

* Current CPR-PRO, Emergency Oxygen, and First Aid Certification.

* YMCA Lifeguard v6 (LGI) Instructor Certification preferred.

* American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) Instructor Certification preferred.

* The incumbent must bring to this position excellent communication skills and maturity.

* The candidate must have a working knowledge of computers especially Windows and Microsoft

Office with emphasis on Excel, Word or Outlook.

* The candidate should have mechanical/maintenance background, prefer someone with experience

in water quality management.

Essential Functions

The AAD will create and coordinate the scheduling and managing of Lifeguards based on the number of hours and activities, which the Y's various activities demand, while working within the constraints of the approved budget by the Aquatics Director. Be knowledgeable of the pool schedule and attend all departmental in-services and meetings. Assist the Aquatics Director with training, orientation, evaluation, supervision and preparing payroll for all Aquatics Staff. The AAD must be able to efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision. The AAD must be able to lead and direct a variety of instructional programs (swimming lessons) at a quality level. The AAD will also serve as a Lifeguard, open or close, and assist in the operation of the pool (including chemical maintenance). The AAD may also work in conjunction with the Aquatics Director and Management in organizing Y events i.e., pool rentals, all recreational swimming programs to include 21st CCLC youth programs, all competitive swim meets, races, or community events when needed. Above all, have enthusiasm for making the Aquatics Facility a safe and fun place for the Twin Pike Communities.

Required Certifications
