Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the CFO and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance Division. Area of emphasis includes Accounts Receivable & Billing, Accounts Payable, Banking, Revenue Recognition and General Ledger audit and review support. This position will share financial oversight responsibilities across the divisions of Sponsored Program Administration (SPA) Post Award and Revenue & Fund Management (RFM).


Essential Functions

Oversee entire accounts receivable process, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing across divisions of SPA Post Award and RFM.
Monitor and manage aged receivables and unbilled accounts to ensure all accounts are billed and collected timely.
Assist with reconciliations of unbilled accounts as necessary.
Monitor and support the collection process.
Perform quality assurance reviews of various financial activities to monitor activity performance.
Monitor and review contribution awards to determine appropriate revenue recognition.
Process all related revenue journal entries as necessary to recognize revenue.
Reconcile coding of all revenue types with awards.
Assist with the audit of invoices for appropriate documentation and approval.
Monitor outstanding aged purchase orders and initiate action to keep current.
Banking and cash responsibilities.
Assist in the review of select systems and evaluate practices and procedures to produce efficient and automated outcomes.
Support month-end and year-end close process
Assist in monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
Assist with importing/exporting files and reconciliation between financial systems.
Assist with annual single audit and financial audit as needed.

Clerical duties such as data entry, filing and operating a variety of general office equipment.
Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments with minimal supervision.
